 Welcome to Alvarado Junior High Theatre!!


At Alvarado Junior High, theatre students of all ages explore and develop their acting skills through a variety of immersive, hands-on theatre classes designed for learning and fun.

We offer 6th Grade Intro to Theatre, 7th and 8th Grade Theatre 1, 8th Grade Advanced Theatre, and Advanced Production class, depending on the student’s needs and ability. Basic techniques include, but are not limited to: vocal projection, diction, memorization, and blocking (stage placement). 

In advanced classes students will hone their craft, while becoming more comfortable with character choices and development, script analysis, stage presence, and line delivery.

Mary Grim, AJH Theatre Instructor

Mary has performed professionally in over 60 musical productions in the DFW area including theatres such as Stage West, Circle Theatre, Uptown Players, Lyric Stage, Main Stage Irving/Las Colinas, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Casa Manana, Watertower Theatre, Theatre Arlington, and Contemporary Theatre of Dallas. She has also performed regionally all over the U.S and internationally with tours to Budapest, Vienna, Prague, and Ireland. 

Mary has also taught classes, workshops and private lessons for over 20 years at many theatres including Casa Manana and Stage West.  She has taught numerous master classes in vocal performance, acting, musical theatre dance and performance and has directed, musical directed, and choreographed for Casa Manana, Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, and Lyric Stage.

Mary has her degree in vocal performance from Texas Wesleyan University and is Texas State Certified for Grades 1-12 for Theatre. Many of her former students are vocal music/theatre instructors, regional, cruise, and Broadway performers.
